Hostel Manager and Reception Lead

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and operationally‑focused individual to lead our hostel in Rijeka. The role combines management duties with hands‑on reception work, ensuring guests receive excellent service while the property runs smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily hostel operations to guarantee efficient and uninterrupted service.
• Maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and overall upkeep of the facility.
• Develop annual work plans, occupancy forecasts, and budget projections.
• Monitor performance against targets, maximizing revenue while controlling costs.
• Design and enforce operational procedures that uphold high service standards.
• Manage reservations, occupancy levels, and guest inquiries to optimize satisfaction and results.
• Set pricing, discounts, and promotional offers for hostel services.
• Drive sales of accommodation capacity.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and support staff and occasional volunteers.
• Foster a positive team culture focused on service excellence and guest satisfaction.
• Ensure guest safety, address special requests, and resolve complaints.
• Participate in daily hostel tasks, including reception duties and food‑beverage service.
• Handle administrative and cash‑handling responsibilities.

Required profile

• Strong interest in youth travel and tourism.
• Proactive, engaged attitude with a commitment to continuous service improvement.
• Excellent command of English, both spoken and written; additional languages are a plus.
• Basic computer literacy, preferably with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
• Previous experience in hospitality or service roles, especially in hostels, is highly desirable.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage varying workloads effectively.
