3D Piping and Steel Designer

About the role

Join BPlant Design as a 3D Piping and Steel Designer, where you will transform conceptual ideas into precise, functional 3D models for a variety of industrial projects. You will be responsible for creating detailed piping layouts and steel structures while ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models of piping systems and associated components according to project specifications, standards, and P&ID diagrams.
• Design and model steel structures, platforms, supports, and frames for industrial plants.
• Produce isometric drawings, general arrangement (GA) drawings, and shop drawings for steel fabrication.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards such as ASME and EN, client specifications, and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with process, mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering teams to integrate and optimise designs.
• Perform clash detection within 3D models and propose corrective solutions.
• Prepare material take‑off (MTO) lists for piping and steel components.
• Participate in internal and external design reviews and maintain accurate project documentation.

Required profile

• Technical degree in mechanical, shipbuilding, civil engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in 3D piping and steel design for industrial projects.
• Proficiency with at least one leading 3D CAD package (e.g., Aveva PDMS/E3D, Intergraph Smart 3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Tekla Structures).
• Strong understanding of piping components, materials, and applicable standards.
• Good knowledge of steel structure design principles and relevant codes.
• Ability to read and interpret P&ID diagrams, GA drawings and other engineering documents.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Analytical mindset, high attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and within a team.
