3D Piping and Steel Designer

About the role

We are looking for a 3D Piping and Steel Designer to join BPlant Design in Zagreb. The successful candidate will create detailed 3D models of piping systems and steel structures for a variety of industrial projects, turning conceptual ideas into precise, functional designs while ensuring safety and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models of piping and related components according to project specifications, standards and P&ID diagrams.
• Design and model steel structures, platforms, supports and brackets for industrial plants.
• Produce isometric drawings, general arrangement (GA) drawings and fabrication drawings for steel structures.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards (e.g., ASME, EN), client specifications and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with process, mechanical, civil and electrical engineering disciplines to integrate and optimise designs.
• Perform clash detection within 3D models and propose corrective solutions.
• Prepare material take‑off (MTO) lists for piping and steel structures.
• Participate in internal and external design reviews and maintain project documentation.

Required profile

• Technical degree in mechanical, shipbuilding, civil engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in 3D design of piping and steel structures in industry.
• Proficient in at least one leading 3D CAD package (e.g., Aveva PDMS/E3D, Intergraph Smart 3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Tekla Structures).
• Strong understanding of piping components, materials and standards.
• Good knowledge of steel structure design principles and relevant codes.
• Ability to read and interpret P&ID diagrams, general arrangement drawings and other engineering documents.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Analytical mindset with high attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team.
