About the role

The Deputy Store Manager supports the store manager in overseeing daily operations across multiple SPAR locations in Croatia. This role ensures smooth store functioning, high customer service standards, and achievement of sales targets.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and coordinate the work of all store staff in the manager’s absence.
• Lead one sector (food, non‑food, fresh, or support) and manage its performance.
• Handle cash registers, treasury balance and daily cash reconciliation.
• Prepare accurate and timely purchase orders.
• Check shelf prices, expiry dates, quantities and product quality.
• Resolve irregularities and customer issues within the store.
• Coordinate and supervise product sales during promotional campaigns.
• Achieve defined business results and sales targets.
• Implement marketing activities inside the store.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and personal hygiene.
• Participate in inventory counts.
• Open and close the store according to procedures.
• Provide courteous, knowledgeable service and advice to customers.

Required profile

• Secondary school, vocational or higher education in economics or a related field.
• Several years of experience in retail, including staff supervision.
• Proven ability to manage employees and achieve results.
• Good knowledge of product assortment.
• Reliability, orderliness and attention to detail.
