Senior Accountant – Lead Accounting Operations

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to lead our accounting operations and corporate administration in Zagreb. The role involves ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with legislation, and providing analytical support to management.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed assets.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual closing procedures and prepare journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
• Prepare statutory and management reports, annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Prepare and review VAT returns, tax reports and other statutory filings, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
• Support external audits by preparing documentation, coordinating with auditors and maintaining accounting records.
• Maintain corporate archives, contract registers and legal documentation, and assist with corporate secretarial duties.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and accounting system optimisation.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional accounting experience.
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and tax regulations; IFRS knowledge is a plus.
• Advanced MS Excel skills and strong attention to accuracy, confidentiality and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in English (advanced).
