QA Engineer – Manual Testing, Payment Gateway

About the role

Monri Payments, a fintech company providing payment solutions, is looking for a detail-oriented QA Engineer with 2+ years of manual testing experience to join its team in Rijeka, Croatia. The role ensures the quality of the Payment Gateway through thorough manual and automated testing. The position is full-time with a hybrid work model.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases and test scripts for the Payment Gateway.
• Own manual testing of new features and regression testing of existing ones, covering the full transaction lifecycle (authorization, purchase, capture, refund, void, recurring payments), 3D Secure, tokenized cards and acquirer integrations.
• Verify hosted payment pages, merchant API integrations, mobile wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay) and alternative payment methods, including API requests/responses, error handling, webhooks and notifications.
• Test merchant and admin portals: transaction search and reporting, multi-currency amounts and rounding, partial captures and refunds, validation rules and cross-screen business logic.
• Work closely with developers and product managers to clarify requirements and resolve issues, and maintain clear test documentation and reproducible bug reports.
• Basic familiarity with automated testing tools such as Cypress is a plus but not required.

Required profile

• 2+ years of hands-on manual testing experience, preferably as a QA Engineer or in a similar role.
• Solid experience testing web applications with complex workflows, integrations and numerical logic.
• Ability to switch between functional areas such as card processing, 3DS, merchant configuration, risk rules and reporting without losing accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent communication skills for writing clear bug reports and working in a team.

Required skills

• Basic API testing with Postman or similar, including JSON/XML requests and responses.
• Nice to have: understanding of card payment concepts (3D Secure, tokenization, authorization vs. capture, chargebacks); Cypress; k6 or Apache JMeter; basic SQL; PCI DSS knowledge.
