Payroll Specialist

About the role

CONEO Zagreb, part of the international tax advisory and audit firm CONEO Group, is hiring a Payroll Specialist. The role focuses on payroll processing and keeping employee payroll records, working within a team that monitors and applies payroll legislation and personal income taxation rules. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, meets deadlines and handles both the technical and client-service sides of payroll administration.

Key responsibilities

• Independently process payroll calculations
• Calculate travel reimbursements and other income, and prepare JOPPD forms
• Process sick leave reimbursements charged to the Croatian Health Insurance Fund (HZZO) and submit reimbursement claims
• Process payroll for expatriate and posted workers
• Monitor and apply legislation and regulations on accounting, finance, taxation and payroll
• Prepare monthly payroll reports, payment records and reimbursement reports, plus monthly and annual records of employee payments and deductions
• Prepare statistical reports and provide payroll support to other departments

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher education qualification
• At least 4 years of experience in payroll administration or a similar role
• Ability to prepare, review and process payroll independently in line with legal and tax regulations
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and taxation of other income
• Good command of written and spoken English
• Self-motivated, proactive, good teamwork, strong organisation and time management, and analytical thinking

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Preferred: experience with Pantheon accounting software
• Preferred: previous experience in an international environment or in an accounting firm focused on payroll services
