Operational Accountant – Finance & Tax

About the role

Join FlixBus CEE South as an Operational Accountant focusing on finance and tax for the Adriatic region (Croatia and Serbia). You will support the newly built Finance & Tax team, ensuring statutory, tax and reporting obligations are met while working closely with shared service centres and local advisors.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee accounting activities for Croatia and Serbia in close collaboration with the accounting centre in Sofia.
• Ensure timely and accurate month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close, including balance‑sheet reconciliations and management of payments, taxes and statutory filings.
• Prepare and review financial statements according to local GAAP and IFRS, mapping between local and group chart of accounts.
• Act as the primary contact for external auditors and respond to head‑quarter requests on reporting, accounting and tax matters.
• Coordinate local tax compliance (corporate tax, VAT and other taxes) with external advisors, applying group guidelines.
• Contribute to the harmonisation, standardisation and automation of finance processes across Europe.
• Collaborate with FP&A, collections and operations teams and serve as a reliable backup for the direct manager.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, audit or advisory services.
• Strong foundation in accounting, financial reporting and statutory compliance.
• Professional proficiency in English; knowledge of Croatian or Serbian is a plus.
• Independent, entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership and teamwork.
