About the role
INETEC designs and develops solutions for space, non-destructive evaluation (NDE) and the nuclear industry, supporting projects such as ITER and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). It is looking for an R&D Expert who combines theoretical research, experimental validation and product design, working on ultrasonic and eddy current technologies for materials science and electromagnetism.
Key responsibilities
- Research new ultrasonic and eddy current technologies and trends for industrial and space NDE, focusing on advanced materials such as ceramics, single crystals and thin and thick films.
- Investigate and optimise piezoelectric, electromagnetic and acoustically passive materials to improve NDE system performance.
- Lead the conceptual design of next-generation ultrasonic and eddy current probes for nuclear energy and SMR applications.
- Design, simulate and validate probe and instrumentation concepts with advanced computational tools.
- Collaborate on industrial instrumentation design and continuously improve existing technologies for quality, efficiency and reliability.
- Prepare technical instructions, design documentation and product procedures in line with international quality standards.
- Manage small R&D teams and cooperate with business and academic partners.
Required profile
- Master's or PhD in physics, materials science, engineering or a related field.
- Deep understanding of ultrasonic and electromagnetic (eddy current) technologies for NDE, and a strong background in materials science.
- Experience with computational modelling and simulation tools.
- Solution-oriented, able to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, with fluent written and spoken English.
What we offer
- Work on NDE technologies used in nuclear power plants and fusion projects such as ITER.
- A collaborative culture with experts in materials science, electromagnetism, mechanical engineering, software and electronics.
- Structured career plans and growth through EU-funded projects and international collaborations.
