Java & Spring Boot Developer

About the role

HiveTech is looking for a Java & Spring Boot developer in Zagreb to join its team working on projects ranging from large enterprise solutions to small custom apps. The company builds robust, scalable back-end systems and wants developers with at least 2 years of professional experience. Candidates must be based in the Croatian-speaking area.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable back-end services with Java and Spring Boot
• Write clean, testable code and unit and integration tests (JUnit, Mockito)
• Take part in code reviews and mentor junior team members
• Work with DevOps to containerize applications and automate deployments
• Collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams to understand requirements
• Optimize performance, troubleshoot production issues and ensure high availability
• Keep up with emerging technologies and share knowledge with the team

Required profile

• At least 2 years of professional experience developing in Java (8+) and Spring Boot in production
• Core Java: OOP, collections, streams, exception handling, concurrency
• Spring Boot: REST APIs, dependency injection, Spring Data, Spring Security
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORM such as Hibernate
• RESTful/GraphQL service design and API versioning
• Maven or Gradle, Git or SVN
• Croatian-speaking area; written and spoken English
• Nice to have: CS or software engineering degree, microservices and Spring Cloud, RabbitMQ/Kafka, Docker and Kubernetes, CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions), Angular or React, Scrum/Kanban, performance tuning
