Design Controls Engineer (BMS, SCADA, PLC)

About the role

Manpower Hrvatska is recruiting, on behalf of its client Vertiv Croatia, an experienced and motivated Design Controls Engineer in Zagreb. The role covers the design of building management systems (BMS), energy management systems (EPMS) and industrial control systems, including PLC programming, SCADA/HMI and industrial networking.

Key responsibilities

• Lead detailed design of BMS, EPMS and industrial control systems of varying complexity
• Prepare control system documentation: wiring diagrams, network diagrams, I/O lists, functional descriptions, sequences, material data sheets and technical specifications
• Design control system architecture, industrial communication networks and third-party equipment integration strategies
• Develop and review PLC/DDC solutions using CODESYS and other modern platforms
• Design and support SCADA/HMI applications, preferably Ignition
• Configure Ethernet-based networks, switches and protocols such as Modbus TCP/RTU, BACnet, OPC UA, MQTT and SNMP
• Design redundant SCADA systems with redundant servers, databases and MQTT brokers in a virtualized environment
• Coordinate and supervise integration of control, fire protection and security systems
• Guide suppliers, subcontractors, installers and production teams, and work with production, site implementation, commissioning and quality teams throughout the project

Required profile

• Degree in electrical engineering, automation or a related field
• Active knowledge of English, spoken and written
• Experience in automation, control systems and system integration in industrial or commercial settings
• Strong communication, organizational and time-management skills; proactive, solution-oriented approach

Required skills

• PLC/DDC programming (CODESYS preferred)
• SCADA platforms (Ignition preferred)
• AutoCAD and BIM tools (Revit preferred)
• Industrial protocols (Modbus, BACnet, OPC UA, MQTT, SNMP) and Ethernet networks
• SQL databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and Linux environments (VMware ESXi, Proxmox, VirtualBox) are desirable but not mandatory
