Senior Project Engineer - Industrial Automation

About the role

ABB is hiring a Senior Project Engineer for its Automation Process Industries division in Zagreb, Croatia. The role reports to the Senior Engineering Manager and acts as a design authority for an engineering discipline, working on multiple projects of moderate size or parts of major projects. The work model is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Handle engineering tasks in industrial electrification and automation projects, mainly in the metals industry
• Work closely with customers to shape and deliver solutions, and initiate improvements based on their feedback
• Create work plans and cost estimates with project managers, ensuring quality, timeliness and budget
• Distribute engineering tasks within the project team, monitor progress and flag critical points early
• Coordinate with project, quality and other functions so designs are manufactured, tested, installed and commissioned correctly
• Coach colleagues on engineering solutions, best practices and lessons learned
• Take project ownership and drive project progress proactively

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, Automation or similar
• At least 5 years of experience in industrial automation and electrification projects, engineering and commissioning
• Fluent spoken and written English
• Current category B driving licence
• Experience in the metals industry (rolling mills, processing lines, casting lines) and knowledge of electrical design (AutoCAD, EPLAN) are a plus

Required skills

• Industrial automation (PLC programming and similar) or electrical drives (frequency converters)
• Ability to read electrical schematics
• Electrical engineering and industrial networking
