Senior Cybersecurity Engineer (Remote – Croatia)

About the role

An international organisation is looking for a hands‑on Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to strengthen its security capabilities across cloud, identity and operational environments. The role is fully remote and will report to a hiring manager in another region, offering a clear path toward Cybersecurity Architect or Security Lead.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement centralised security monitoring (SIEM) and prepare environments for managed SOC integration.
• Act as the primary technical liaison for the external SOC provider, supporting onboarding, log ingestion, tuning and use‑case development.
• Manage and optimise cloud‑based security controls, web‑application security, bot protection and DDoS mitigation.
• Enhance identity protection, conditional access, email security and anti‑phishing defences.
• Establish incident response processes, runbooks and escalation paths aligned with SOC workflows.
• Implement vulnerability scanning across infrastructure and endpoints and integrate security testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Support secure design reviews, threat modelling and compliance with recognised frameworks.
• Build strong relationships with business and technology teams as a trusted security advisor.

Required profile

• Several years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, preferably in a senior or lead capacity.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate with external SOC providers.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in incident handling and vulnerability management.
• Excellent communication skills to advise stakeholders and document security processes.
