Accounts Payable Technician

About the role

The United States Embassy in Croatia is seeking a qualified Accounts Payable Technician to manage the full spectrum of accounts payable and receivable services for all ICASS agencies within the mission. The role supports the Accounts Payable Manager and ensures timely, accurate processing of payments and collections in line with the Appropriation Law, GAAP, FAM, DSSR, ICASS standards and Croatian regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Process vendor and employee payments, ensuring compliance with all applicable financial regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of accounts payable and receivable transactions.
• Assist the Accounts Payable Manager with reporting and reconciliation tasks.
• Monitor and resolve payment discrepancies and inquiries.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, handling correspondence via email and other communication platforms.

Required profile

• Option 1: Minimum two years of experience in finance, accounts payable/receivable, disbursements, voucher processing, or a related field and at least two years of post‑secondary education in finance, accounting, business administration or a related discipline.
• Option 2: Minimum four years of relevant experience and a completed secondary school education.
• Fluent in Croatian (excellent) and proficient in English (working level).
• Knowledge of host‑country financial practices, banking systems and currency management.

Required skills

• Advanced use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Strong analytical abilities and high integrity.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage large volumes of correspondence.
• Excellent organizational and self‑initiative skills.
