Payroll Specialist – Zagreb

About the role

SD Worx Croatia is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join its growing Adriatics team in Zagreb. You will be responsible for processing payroll in compliance with Croatian (and optionally Slovenian) legislation, ensuring accurate calculations of salaries, taxes and social contributions.

Key responsibilities

• Calculate salaries, overtime, night work, sick leave, maternity leave and other earnings according to Croatian labor and tax rules.
• Compute taxes and social security contributions, verify payroll accuracy and prepare statutory reports.
• Prepare and submit tax returns and required documentation to authorities such as the Tax Administration, Health Insurance Fund and Pension Fund.
• Maintain and regularly update employee records in HR and payroll systems.
• Prepare documentation for salary reimbursement claims (e.g., sick or maternity leave).
• Collaborate with HR, Finance and external institutions on payroll matters.
• Monitor legislative changes and ensure their implementation in payroll processes.
• Produce internal reports on salary costs and employee‑related expenses.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of payroll processing experience in Croatia.
• Strong knowledge of Croatian labour law and payroll‑related tax regulations.
• Fluent in Croatian and proficient in English (intermediate to advanced).
• High level of accuracy, confidentiality and ability to meet deadlines.
