Staff Engineer, Market Data

About the role

Douro Labs builds Pyth Pro, real-time market data infrastructure that distributes institutional-grade price feeds from primary sources to exchanges, market makers and trading firms. The Staff Engineer Market Data role builds the systems that ingest, process, store and serve this data with high performance and reliability. It is a full-time, remote position based in Europe, open to candidates fluent in English.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain core market data infrastructure in Rust.
• Solve practical problems specific to real-time market data: cross-exchange pricing differences, data quality and latency.
• Apply real market data or trading systems knowledge to engineering decisions.
• Communicate clearly with the rest of the team as it grows.
• Lead a small team of 3 to 4 people over time, not immediately.

Required profile

• Senior or staff-level engineering experience, able to work independently from day one.
• Real market data or trading systems experience, ideally from a market data provider, trading firm or bank.
• A background in traditional finance, rather than web3 or crypto-native companies.
• Based in Europe, where most of the team sits, or the US.

Required skills

• Strong, hands-on Rust.
• Real-time streaming systems.
• High-scale data storage and processing, in a market data context.
• Nice to have: pricing methodology, index construction or reference data architecture; mentoring or informal leadership experience.
