About the role

The Non‑profit Science and Higher Education Union is looking for a motivated accounting officer to support its finance department. You will play a key role in ensuring transparent and efficient financial operations for the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Record incoming and outgoing invoices, bank statements and cash receipts.
• Process payroll, travel expenses, author royalties and contract‑based work.
• Maintain fixed‑asset and inventory registers.
• Reconcile ledger accounts and prepare documentation for financial statements and annual closing.
• Communicate with banks, suppliers and other institutions.
• Assist in audit preparation and other accounting‑administrative tasks as directed by the department head.

Required profile

• Education in accounting (secondary or higher education).
• 3–5 years of experience in similar accounting roles, preferably in the non‑profit sector.
• Good knowledge of Croatian accounting regulations, especially for non‑profits.
• High accuracy, responsibility, independence and strong analytical abilities.
• Team player with problem‑solving skills and quick learning capacity.

Required skills

• Advanced use of MS Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with accounting software.
