Payroll Expert II

About the role

Action Croatia is looking for a Payroll Expert II to join its HR Services team in Zagreb. The professional will ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, tax reporting and related financial activities while supporting continuous improvement of payroll systems.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, process and verify payroll data.
• Handle tax, social and health insurance calculations.
• Guarantee that all payments are made on schedule.
• Oversee payroll processing, suggest improvements and maintain accurate records.
• Assist with payroll audits, unemployment claims and statistical reporting.
• Prepare internal and statutory reports.
• Validate accounting entries and support general‑ledger reconciliation related to payroll.
• Coordinate with external service providers and manage supplier relationships.
• Maintain documentation archiving in line with data‑retention policies.
• Act as backup for the IPS Coordinator and ensure internal controls are in place.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of proven experience in complex payroll/HR administration.
• University degree or equivalent certification in payroll processing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Organised, able to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Proactive, collaborative and focused on continuous improvement.
