Head of Program Management Department (m/f/d)

About the role

As Head of the Program Management Department you will lead complex unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) programmes, ensuring delivery on time and within budget while efficiently managing both material and non‑material resources. You will act as the primary liaison between international partners, contracting authorities, end‑users and major subcontractors. The role also involves shaping departmental strategy, budgets and reporting to executive management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex programmes and guarantee on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
• Oversee development and supply contracts for UGV systems.
• Serve as the main bridge between international partners, contracting authorities, end‑users and subcontractors.
• Develop, monitor and analyse departmental plans, budgets and strategies, providing regular insights to executive management.
• Prepare and lead critical business negotiations, resolve high‑level program conflicts and manage escalations across multidisciplinary teams.
• Collaborate closely with product management, sales and other divisions to support strategic portfolio growth.
• Lead, inspire and guide department employees, fostering teamwork, engagement and continuous career development.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in senior program or project management, preferably with cross‑functional technical teams.
• Domain expertise in complex technical, engineering or defence systems (experience with UGVs is a strong advantage).
• Extensive international stakeholder management, coordinating partners, subcontractors and high‑level client representatives.
• Hands‑on experience in departmental budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and executive reporting.
• Strong negotiation and escalation skills for complex contractual discussions and risk management.
• People‑management capabilities, including competency definition, performance evaluation and reward frameworks.
• Excellent spoken and written proficiency in English.
