Head of Accounting

About the role

Boogie Bakery is looking for a Head of Accounting to lead and continuously improve its accounting function and related processes. The role reports directly to management and offers the opportunity to shape financial and accounting practices in a growing manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and continuously improve the accounting function and associated processes.
• Ensure high‑quality, timely monthly and annual close, financial reporting, and compliance with accounting, tax and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee payroll processing and related statutory obligations.
• Prepare profit & loss statements, management reports, variance analyses and other financial information for management.
• Develop controlling, budgeting and forecasting, monitoring costs, profitability, cash flow, working capital and key performance indicators.
• Collaborate closely with production, procurement, sales, HR and other business units.
• Design and enhance internal controls and optimise accounting and financial processes.
• Participate actively in ERP system development and implementation from an accounting and finance perspective.
• Maintain relationships with banks, auditors, tax advisors and other external partners.
• Grow the accounting/finance team in line with business expansion.

Required profile

• University degree in economics, finance or accounting.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including leadership of an accounting function or team.
• Strong practical knowledge of Croatian accounting, financial reporting, tax and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in controlling, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Hands‑on payroll experience and understanding of related legal and tax obligations.
• Proven track record of transforming or significantly improving accounting and finance processes.
• Fluent English.
• Experience in production accounting and familiarity with manufacturing environments is highly valued.
• Experience with ERP implementation, especially in structuring accounting and finance processes, is a plus.
