Power Electronics Test & Lab Engineer (m/f)

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Power Electronics Test & Lab Engineer to join our Zagreb team. You will be responsible for preparing and operating laboratory equipment, executing test campaigns, and supporting product development for power converters.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory equipment, auxiliary circuits, instrumentation, power sources, loads, cabling, chillers and cooling systems for development and research activities.
• Configure PLC‑based automation and data‑acquisition (DAQ) systems and run manual and automated test campaigns.
• Analyse measurement data, create technical reports, visualise results and draw conclusions to aid product development and continuous improvement.
• Discuss test outcomes with Power Electronics Engineers and recommend follow‑up tests, design improvements and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with the Product Approval team to execute converter compliance testing according to UL and IEC standards.
• Perform PCB rework, prototype modifications, troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and disassembly of damaged converters.
• Maintain consistent laboratory setups, test procedures and reporting standards across DEIF locations.
• Own and maintain the Power Electronics laboratories in Zagreb and Graz, including instrumentation, calibration status and workplace organisation.
• Coordinate with facility management, external service providers and suppliers to keep laboratories safe, operational and efficient.
• Support occupational health and safety activities, risk assessments and safe working practices.

Required profile

• Curious, hands‑on engineer who enjoys working close to hardware, measurements and testing equipment.
• Strong ownership attitude, structured approach to testing and troubleshooting.
• Effective collaborator across technical disciplines with clear communication of findings.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical secondary education (HTL or similar).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in testing, validation or development of power‑electronic systems.
