Director of Contract & Commercial Management

About the role

The Director of Contract & Commercial Management will lead and develop a high‑performing department, acting as the main liaison for executive stakeholders on complex contractual and commercial matters. This senior position oversees the full contract lifecycle for international EPC projects, strategic supplier agreements, joint‑venture contracts and grant compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow the Contract and Commercial Management team, fostering a collaborative culture.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for executive stakeholders on contractual disputes, high‑stakes negotiations and strategic risk exposures.
• Oversee structuring, drafting and negotiation of complex international EPC contracts.
• Manage external counsel and specialized legal advisors to ensure cost‑effective delivery.
• Negotiate strategic supplier frame agreements, partnership and joint‑venture contracts, and global agency/sales representative agreements.
• Ensure legal and commercial compliance for public and private subsidies and grants, including reporting and governance.
• Lead commercial management throughout the contract lifecycle—from tendering to execution, claim management and close‑out.
• Partner with project directors to mitigate commercial risks, identify value‑creation opportunities and manage scope changes, variations and claims.
• Standardise contract templates, commercial playbooks and negotiation guidelines across the organisation.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Law (J.D., LL.M., or equivalent) or Commercial Law/Business Administration with a strong focus on contract law.
• 5–10 years of progressive experience in commercial contract management or legal counsel roles.
• Proven leadership experience managing, mentoring and growing a legal/commercial department or team.
• Deep practical expertise in EPC contracting, government clients, large‑scale industrial/infrastructure projects, supplier‑frame agreements, agency structures and grant/subsidy governance.
• Expert knowledge of EPC/FIDIC structures, partnership/joint‑venture models and subsidy management.
