Design Engineering Specialist – Automotive Wiring Systems

About the role

We are looking for a Design Engineering Specialist to join our automotive wiring systems team in Zagreb. You will contribute to the design, development and optimisation of electrical harnesses for vehicles, collaborating with global partners and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design new and modify existing automotive electrical wiring systems using Catia V5 and SolidWorks.
• Develop technical solutions for plastic injection moulding, stamping and die‑casting processes.
• Perform tool design analysis, FEM simulations and assess material behaviour for mechanical, electrical, EMC and thermal requirements.
• Participate in customer meetings and support them at development and production sites.
• Co‑operate with Yazaki locations worldwide, including North America and Japan.
• Create test plans for product validation and assist testing engineers.
• Support D‑FMEA creation and conduct market research on data‑connectivity trends.

Required profile

• University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written); additional languages such as German or French are a plus.
• Strong presentation skills and willingness to travel occasionally.
• Motivation to improve and benchmark automotive connection systems.
