Mechanical Engineer (m/f)

About the role

Vertiv Croatia is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its product development team in Zagreb. You will be responsible for designing and improving mechanical components for UPS and power‑electronics solutions, collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure robust, manufacturable products.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical parts, assemblies, and detailed drawings using CAD tools such as Creo and Solid Edge.
• Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and unit configurator logic for accurate product configuration.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Service, Quality, Electrical, Firmware, and Compliance teams to deliver production‑ready designs.
• Provide hands‑on technical support during prototype builds, assembly, and testing.
• Gather feedback from prototypes, testing, and field trials and implement design improvements.
• Review existing products and propose cost‑optimisation, manufacturability, and reliability enhancements.
• Assist in troubleshooting field issues and support Root Cause Analysis activities.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert for Mechanical CAD tools and processes for the broader organization.
• Support NPDI activities across EVT, DVT, PVT, pilot production, and sustainment phases.
• Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing for feasibility, tooling reviews, and design refinements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 + years of mechanical design and analysis experience in UPS, power electronics, or similar environments.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical‑electrical integration, product safety, and system‑level design.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software, preferably Creo 10.0 or higher.
• Experience with Bills of Materials creation and revision.
• Familiarity with PLM/change‑order management tools such as Oracle Agile or Windchill.
• Solid understanding of DFM and DFA principles.
• Hands‑on experience with validation activities (thermal, environmental, mechanical reliability).
